The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Hyderabad on Friday, with moderate to heavy rainfall likely across several zones within the city limits. The forecast remains active until 7 PM today.
According to the 24-hour rainfall projection from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TGDPS), rainfall across Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) areas is expected to intensify through Friday. Data suggests rainfall levels may cross 78.5 mm in specific localities including Serilingampally, Quthbullapur (QTBP), LB Nagar (LBNR), and Rajendranagar (RJNR).
In addition to Hyderabad, IMD extended the orange warning to adjoining districts including Sangareddy, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri. These areas are under caution for potential flash floods and waterlogging due to consistent rainfall activity.
Key GHMC zones such as Musheerabad, Jubilee Hills, Khairatabad, and Secunderabad are among those expected to witness moderate to heavy showers. Commuters have been advised to monitor weather updates and plan travel accordingly.
